Charlotte Hanna!
That's right, ladies and gentlemen, after twelve months, twenty-five days, and seven hours, we finally have a winner. On Wednesday, August 1st, Charlotte Hanna of Minnesota became the first person from Alma to not just make plans, but actually visit our lovely little spot of earth here in Lafayette. She and Glen were nearby visiting her grandparents, and they came by for an evening.
So what did the winners receive? Well, in addition to a front-page entry on this prestigious blog, they also won a grand tour of the Martin Mansion and Grounds, a trip to Windows -- voted "the swankiest wine bar in Lafayette" -- and a guided tour (aboard an air-conditioned Saturn) of beautiful Purdue University. Of course, most coveted is that all winnings include the presence of the fabulous Dan and Vicky Martin!!
The best news is, even though a winner has been declared, the contest is still running!! That's right, ladies and gentlemen, we have decided to continue running this contest indefinitely! Although, quite obviously, no one else can be crowned First Visitor, all others who wish to participate are eligible for similar or even greater prizes (subject to terms of the visit)!!

Wow, sounds like a wonderful competition! Glad to hear you two are doing well. Aaron and I are also thriving up here in Lansing... our little one, Angela, is growing so fast we can hardly keep up! :) Maybe we'll see you at homecoming?
The wine bar was delicious, but the best part has to be the honor of hanging out with you (and your cats!). We had a great time--only wish we could have stayed longer. Say hi to Koa and Kai! (Hope I spelled that right...)
Man...we really missed the boat on this one! A FRONT PAGE MENTION?! Chillin' with the Martins themselves? Dag!!! :-) Seriously, though, we DO need to make our way out there...congratulations on starting your last year of classes ever. Is Dan looking forward to his schooling re-starting?
